Explore the Area

Take your time at the farm, feel the serenity of the place, read a book or just sip a coffee on the veranda. If you want to do something at the farm, you could walk around the trails, terraces, fields and food forest, or you could ask the farmers how you could help at the farm. You could also go for a longer hike, go mountain biking or visit one of the cultural sites around the farm.

The farm and the forest around

Visiting and experiencing the farm and the forest around the farm is certainly a nice way to start exploring the area. In the surrounding forest and fields, you could walk a few interesting trails.

Hikes

There are several possibilities for a 3-5 hours hike around the farm. With a local guide you could visit Namobuddha stupa and monastery in a 4-5 hours walk. With a local guide you could walk the hills West of the farm and descent to the old Newar town of Panauti, this gentle walk will take about 2.5 to 3 hours. From Panauti you could walk back or take the bus to Etey and walk back to the farm in 30 minutes. Another day hike goes to the old centre of Dhulikhel via the Kali temple, the Buddha Statue and the 1000 steps (2.5 hours). You could walk back to Okharbot Organic farm, or take the bus back to Kavre Bhanjyang.

There are various options to organize a few days' trek from one - organic - lodge to the other in the Dhulikhel-Panauti-Namobuddha area. From our lodge you could trek to Balthali, Namobuddha, Panauti, Lakuri Bhanjyang, or Dhulikhel. Please contact us to discuss options.

Mountain biking

There are various possibilities to go mountain biking around the farm. You could also mountain bike to the farm from Kathmandu, for instance via Godavari, Lakuri Bhanjyang and Panauti, and return to Kathmandu via Dhulikhel and Nagarkot.

Visits

With your own transportation or a taxi you could visit the old towns of Panauti and Dhulikhel or visit the Namobuddha stupa and monastery.
